If you love the competitive thrill, big emotions and sports from the very top shelf, then you’re in for a treat this summer. All across Denmark, you can attend unique and spectacular sports events this summer. Either as a spectator or as a participant.

For example, how about going for a run with HRH The Crown Prince of Denmark and his family?

To celebrate his 50th birthday in 2018 The Crown Prince invited all citizens of Denmark to run with him. Since then Royal Run has become a huge and popular running event each year.

This year Royal Run takes place on June 6 in six different Danish cities. Definitely in a city near you.

If you’re more into drama, action and sports legends, you must go see one or more of the three Grand Depart stages of this year’s Tour de France which starts in Denmark on July 1.

The first stage is an individual time trial that takes the riders past many iconic landmarks in the heart of Copenhagen.

The second stage takes the riders through the picturesque island of Zealand and over the iconic Great Belt Bridge – finishing in Nyborg.

The third stage starts in the city of Vejle which boasts some of the steepest street climbs in Denmark. The third stage also takes the riders past the more than 1000-year-old UNESCO World Heritage protected Jelling Mounds, through the beautiful cities of Kolding and Christianfeld – finishing in the historic city of Sønderborg in the southernmost part of Jutland.

All along the stages, there are great spots to experience the riders pass by. Go explore the stages for yourself on the website

To top this staggering sports event summer of 2022 there are also some crowd-pleasing World Championships that you can attend.

Experience world class events

One of the highlights this summer is World Orienteering Championships that take place in three cities in the Triangle Region, Vejle, Kolding and Fredericia from June 26 to June 30.

If you’re more into muddy bike action don’t miss the 2022 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in Haderslev on September 17. Here you can bring your mountain bike and ride the same course as the professionals.

Regardless of what kind of sports you’re into, this summer will have something quite special in store for you.
